About Us

A Story of Growth and Excellence
The trajectory of West Suffolk College (WSC) ME has been one of constant development. The team first entered the Student Motorsport Competition as one of the original entrants and the then-fledgling contest. Fifth place in the Competition standings in its debut season led to further success in 2023 when five class podium finishes led to a third-place finish.
WSC ME raised the bar in 2024 when novice driver Brady Pollock emerged as a breakout star, piloting the #12 WSC ME Toyota Aygo to second in the Competition standings and securing the title of “Highest Placed Novice” and third place on the overall CityCar Cup end-of-season table.
Raising The Bar
The 2025 season marked a historic turning point for the team as WSC ME not only moved to a three-car line-up for the Student Motorsport Competition but also expanded its horizons to embrace endurance racing, becoming the first ever college team to enter and finish the prestigious Race of Remembrance at Anglesey. With the team’s #100 WSC BMW 330i, drivers Andrew Payne, Haydn Payne, Brady Pollock and Ben Spencer and a crew comprised of both current students and alumni, a 47th-place overall finish and 13th in class demonstrated the grit and determination of Alan Barrett’s squad.
WSC ME’s Student Motorsport Competition campaign also saw more history being made when, alongside the 12 class podiums for drivers Brady Pollock, Haydn Payne and Glenn and Ben Bee, Pollock scored his first overall CityCar Cup win at Silverstone.

The Bridge To Industry
Alongside its on-track results, WSC ME’s history is also defined by the success of its alumni. The programme serves as a direct pipeline to the motorsport industry with students frequently moving into roles within professional motorsport. Former team members have secured positions within historic racing teams and single-seater specialists, proving that West Suffolk College continues to set the benchmark for vocational excellence in British motorsport and the wider UK automotive industry.
Excellence in Sustainability and Media
The WSC ME programme proved in 2025 that it is about more than just racing. In 2025, the team developed a relationship with SUSTAIN racing fuels to become the first college team to power their cars purely using a sustainable fuel. The partnership was proudly promoted throughout the 2025 season and resulted in West Suffolk College winning both the Student Motorsport Competition “Sustainability & Environmental Impact” and “Media Activity” awards at the end-of-season BRSCC Awards Night.
